Where the Honda has acres of drab grey leather, the Chrysler has lovely accent piping and metal inlays in a stylish two-tone design. The rest of the Odyssey’s interior is functional and seems easy to clean – exactly the qualities you want in a minivan – but it’s hard not to compare to our long-term Pacifica Hybrid, especially since the two are within a few hundred dollars in MSRP. Honda’s are comfortable too, but if you use your minivan like a pickup truck very often note that the Odyssey’s second-row seats are removable but extremely heavy. Honda representatives politely explained that their engineers opted for comfort rather than collapsibility, sort of a sideways jab at the Pacifica’s second-row seat comfort, and a reasonable tradeoff except I don’t have a problem with Chrysler’s seats. My last review of the Odyssey ( a 2018 model) criticized the design for lacking stowable second-row seating, a-la Chrysler’s Stow ‘n Go. If you don’t like the effects, just switch Econ mode off and the Odyssey reacts with plenty of smooth power, albeit with a tradeoff in gas mileage. I had Econ mode engaged for nearly the entire trip, which does have some tradeoffs: Throttle response is sluggish in an attempt to prevent jackrabbit starts, and the results of the 10-speed holding higher gears and the engine switching in and out of three-cylinder operation can produce some lugging and weird vibrations. The combination was good for nearly 26 mpg over approximately 1,000 miles of driving, and I hit a maximum 26.4 average after a couple hundred miles of steady-state freeway time. Higher trim levels like the Elite are powered by a version of Honda’s 3.5-liter V6 with variable cylinder management – it can shut down three cylinders in low-load situations – and a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Honda has been building one of America’s favorite minivans for decades now, and the 2019 Odyssey Elite packages just about everything the company has learned into one angular, vaguely funky looking box. Thank you for your opinion & advice so far.Our Opinion: The minivan remains the world’s best family car, and I love the things – they’re versatile, comfortable, efficient and practically invisible to the police. I'm a southern lol so I'm not the most educated roads that are constantly treated during winter. Just trying to get as many opinions & experience based ones at that as possible. Also one of my brother in laws lived in NJ for a time & said it should be fine especially if the mechanic said it was minor. I think it's fine as I trust my mechanic (mom & pop shop) been going for years or well a better part of a decade. Just the front or all? And would any Honda dealer be able to do so or should I go through the Honda dealership I purchased? Also is there a way to see if it's already been done by the previous owner? Are you aware of the any other recalls or where to look them up? I know Kelly bluebook I believe had some recall alerts on their site. I'll have to look into that, didn't know they had seat belt issues. The majority are supposedly good just they have nothing to complain about. That you only ever see the negative because that's what people talk about. Although I've also read the majority are fine. I do know the dealer gave me a list of repairs & things they did to get ready & they've already taken car of the fuel pump & things. Idk when they start having them, but it's already at 35k so hopefully it won't. That is if the rust is not a concern, other wise I'll probably trade it in or sell it at that point. Runs great & super clean though.Įventually I want to get some blacked out rims & ceramic limo tint done in the rear windows once paid off. However my mechanic said overall good condition just the minor corrosion & suggested a new battery because it was weak. I know I should have had it checked beforehand, but because it was CPO I wasn't thinking clearly for whatever reason. I only ask because I am not familiar with Northern vehicles & have no idea how exactly NJ treats their roads in the winter. It's originally from New Jersey by the way with only 35k on the odometer one owner all maintenance kept up with. Should I be concerned about minor corrosion on the undercarriage? My mechanic said it was minor, my guess not on the frame & said being in Georgia it would not worsen over the lifespan enough to be of concern. I understand AGM batteries are the way to go & Odyssey is one of the better if not best quality brands for AGMs. Although it's not the Sienna I was hunting, I got to say I'm impressed & in love thus far lol.Īny thoughts on switching over to synthetic oil? (what I'm used to coming from a Rav4 se) Really preferred changing every 10k miles.Īlso looking for any opinions on the Odyssey Battery 48-720T Group Size 48 723 CCA.
